Parishioners,
With the help of many volunteers we have finished the first part of the library renovation. This included sorting, with Monsignor’s guidance, cleaning and locating Dewey Decimal numbers for all of the books in the library. We now begin the task of putting all of the books back on the shelves so that they are ready to be checked out by you.
This second part of the task involves a large amount of labeling and data entry into the computer system. We began this part of the task mid June and have about 400 books on the shelf. We estimate that there are about 4,000 books in the library! Thank you to all who have generously donated a total of over 200 books. The book fairy has made numerous visits!
We have added a Juvenile/Youth section for ages 8-18 that includes offerings on many topics. A large number of the books in this section have been approved by the National Catholic Education Association.
We would like to remind you that when the library renovation is complete it will be searchable online by title, author and topic. We hope that this will encourage you to use the library on a frequent basis.
Bear with us as we continue to complete our work. Volunteers are always welcome. Please use the Sign-up Genius to let us know that you are planning to help. Daytime and evening hours are available for your convenience. You must be a rising 6th grader or older to volunteer. Community service hours are available for any who volunteer.
We are planning to have the library renovation completed no later than the first of October. October is National Church Library Month. A proper celebration will be planned! More details will be given as we approach our goal date.
Once again, the Library Committee wishes to thank all who have given their time in helping us thus far.
