Infant Baptism
This preparation is for families seeking to Baptize their infant or child of 7 years or younger.
If you have any questions about this process, please call the office at (434-973-4381) or contact Therese Gibson (English) or Bryan Vides (Español) regarding the prep classes.
Step 1: Register your child.

Step 2: Attend a one-time baptism prep class & prepare your godparent forms.
(Godparents are welcome, however their attendance is not required).

- English classes are on the first Saturday of each month at 9:00AM in the Conference Room. After registering, the Baptism Coordinator will contact you to confirm the class date. For more information on classes, please contact Therese.

Step 3: After attending class, make an appointment to speak to a priest. Bring your signed godparent forms with you!

Step 4: Schedule your baptism date with the priest during your appointment!
We celebrate within mass infant baptisms 4 times per year, every 3 months.
We also offer outside of mass baptisms on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:00 am (Spanish) or 11:00 am (English).
OCIA/OICA: Baptism for Children of Catechetical Age (7+)
(Formerly RCIA/RICA)
Those children who are of school age and have not been baptized are invited to participate in catechesis designed specifically for children. Parents along with the children, attend special learning sessions; sponsors welcomed. Children should be enrolled in classroom instruction AND complete all additional forms. Children will receive Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil. They will prepare for First Reconciliation during the remaining classes.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
Children wishing to prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist (which typically occurs in 2nd grade) should be enrolled in our Christian formation program. If the child attends a Catholic School or has appropriate home school course loads, attendance through the parish for Sacrament specific study is also required (contact us to discuss). There is an additional fee for Sacramental preparation materials.
Parent’s Part:
*Participation in Adult Faith Formation opportunities, to grow in faith, alongside the journey(s) of their child(ren), offered by the parish and/or diocese.
*Attendance at formative meetings on each sacrament prior to each celebration, facilitated by our priests. Topics include the Theology and Spirituality of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Theology and Spirituality of the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
