To receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Diocese of Richmond, a student must be at least 15 years of age and in 10th grade. Preparation is a one-year process that occurs during the school year, and students typically receive the Sacrament in late spring. A student wishing to be Confirmed must be enrolled in a faith formation program, which at Incarnation is our High School Youth Group (or our FIRE program). The student must also participate in the Confirmation preparation curriculum, which is separate and distinct from the faith formation program (see details below).
Requirements
Participation in High School Youth Group
Completion of the Sponsor Commitment by the student’s sponsor
—Sponsor Commitment due by Sunday, October 30 (Compromiso en español)
The goal is that through the sponsor relationship, the sponsor will enter into conversation with the candidate, witness their own personal spiritual journey, and model what it means to live out our Catholic faith today.
