Mask Policy Update – January 3
Update as of January 3, 2022.
The CDC and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) have revised guidance involving the wearing of masks in public indoor settings. Everyone age 2 and up should wear a mask in indoor public spaces. Virginia communities currently have high levels of COVID-19 transmission.
Currently, most areas of the diocese are in substantial or high transmission, including Albemarle County.
What does this mean? Simply stated, while not mandated by the VDH nor required by Diocesan policy, parishioners are encouraged to wear masks at Mass and other appropriate public indoor settings as prescribed by the VDH. Charity and kindness towards those individuals who choose to do so or not to do so, for a variety of reasons, is paramount. We do not ask for proof of vaccination or proof of medical exemptions from wearing a mask at Mass.
While there are many and various opinions about the pandemic, this decision was made first and foremost for the health, well-being, and care of all in our communities. Thank you, in advance, for your continued understanding and support.
The 11:30am Sunday Mass requires masks for all attendees, even those who are fully vaccinated.
