Chesterton Academy of St. John the Evangelist, an independent high school that is joyfully rooted in the Catholic faith, is slated to open Fall 2024, starting with 9th and 10th graders. Thank you to all who supported the musical, ‘I Will Live Until I Die’ — based on the life of Sister Thea Bowman and performed at the Martin Luther King Performing Arts Center recently on September 16 & 17th. Bringing the musical to Charlottesville was quite the undertaking and the positive response from those who attended the show was incredible! 

But unfortunately, we have a shortfall of $4,600. Due to lack of media coverage (neither CBS or NBC opted to cover this musical), ticket sales were not where we expected them to be. Additionally, ValLimar received no compensation for doing this show! If you would like to help in offsetting this cost, please make your check payable to Church of the Incarnation and note ‘Sister Thea Musical’ in the memo line (or make your donation online as well). The 40 Days for Life Campaign in Charlottesville will run from Wed., September 27th until Sun., November 5th. Join people around the world to support this powerful pro-life effort in prayer & fasting, peaceful vigil, and reaching out to others to bring the message of the sanctity of life. Congratulations to our newest members: Patrick Decker, Evan Kiernan, Elena Riestra-King, Fran Slayton, and Carlos Trejo Mendoza! In early September, our parish community gathered to discern new members for the Parish Council.  Guided by the Holy Spirit, we were able to discern five new members to serve on either a 1-year or 3-year Council term in office beginning in 2023. We are grateful to everyone who attended the discernment and to those who have answered this important Call to Serve!

Registration for Children’s Religious Education for the 2023-2024 school year is open! 

We welcome all children from kindergarten to fifth grade to participate in this program. Our sessions focus on sharing the fundamentals of our Catholic faith, but also prepare children for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion if they are enrolled in 2nd grade or higher. Classes will begin on Sunday, September 10th and are available in both English and Spanish. Classes in English are held from 10:15AM–11:15AM and classes in Spanish are from 12:15PM–1:15PM.
