    Millions of Monicas

    By Sarah Phillips

Many people have children who are struggling to embrace their Catholic faith or have left the Church entirely. The Millions of Monicas prayer ministry supports mothers in this situation. Following the example of St. Monica, mothers come together weekly to persevere in prayer for their children’s joyful return to full unity with the Catholic Church.

Meetings will be starting on Wednesday, May 7th from 10:30-11:30AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Crozet, VA. We are hoping to get a weekly evening meeting also offered later in the Month at Incarnation so people can choose day or evening, depending on their preferences. For questions please contact the Incarnation Parish office.

    Jubilee Year Pilgrimage

    By Sarah Phillips

Pilgrimage to the Basilica of St. Andrew in Roanoke on Saturday, May 10th, 2025

In 1300, Pope Boniface VIII declared the first Jubilee Year, offering indulgences to pilgrims. Continuing this tradition, Pope Francis has declared 2025 a Holy Year with the theme “Hope Does Not Disappoint”.

A Jubilee is rooted in the biblical concept of Yobel, a year of joy, forgiveness, and peace. In the Catholic Church, it’s a time for spiritual renewal, conversion, and acts of mercy.

One of the graces of a Jubilee is the opportunity to receive a plenary indulgence—the full remission of temporal punishment due to sin. This is not forgiveness of sin itself (which comes through Confession) but healing from sin’s lingering effects.

    To receive it, one must:

    • Go to Confession and receive Communion
    • Be free from attachment to sin
    • Complete a designated spiritual act (such as a pilgrimage)

Why is this a moment of grace? A plenary indulgence is a profound gift of God’s mercy. It brings peace to the soul and renews our relationship with God and the Church. It is a reminder that healing and hope are always possible.

To help the faithful take part, Bishop Knestout has designated local pilgrimage sites, including the Basilica of St. Andrew in Roanoke. Our parish will make this pilgrimage on Saturday, May 10th. As part of the pilgrimage we will take up a collection for the Basilica itself.

Sign-ups for bus travel are completed, but you are welcome to drive independently.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP by calling the office at (434-973-4381). Join us as we walk together in hope and grace.

Joining us on the bus to Roanoke?

Please pay online (https://incarnationparish.org/en/donate/) with “Bus” in the comment section or bring exact cash/check on Saturday morning! Seats are $30 each.
