    Music Ministry News

    By Sarah Phillips

Why should I join the church choir?

    • Musicality – singing in the choir improves the way you hear music and intensifies your appreciation of harmony.
    • Mental Health – studies have shown that choral singing enhances brain function, strengthens feelings of togetherness, and releases endorphins and oxytocin resulting in reduced stress and depression
    • Confidence – so many people are told that they can’t sing which discourages many singers for even trying. The truth is unless there is hearing loss, anyone can learn to sing! Singing in a choir gives you permission to make music as part of a group, and your confidence will grow rapidly.
    • Community – choir members will tell you that we are ‘family’ and look out for one another. Not to mention, you’ll always have somewhere to sit for Mass!

What is keeping you from joining? Summertime is a great time to ‘dive’ in! Rehearsals for the summer will take place on July 17th, July 31st and August 14th (Thursdays at 7PM).  The COTI choir is hoping to do Handel’s Christmas Messiah in December. This takes a lot of voices to make this happen. In other news, come September, a choir for middle/high school youth will also be forming (they will practice once a month). Come join us!

For more information or questions, please contact Jean DePiro at jeand@incarnationparish.org.

    Summer Book Drive

    By Sarah Phillips

Reading during the summer helps students to be successful when they return to school. Many students struggle to find access to kids’ books over the summer, especially those without a home library or ready access to a local library.

Please consider donating gently used or new kids books to help close the reading gap. Both English and Spanish books are needed. A collection box is located in the Narthex (near the Tree of Life).
