Ways for Adults to Serve

Edge – Middle School
Our Edge program meets Sunday nights throughout the school year from 6:00-7:30 pm and is open to students in grades 6-8.  Meetings involve talks about our Catholic faith, small group discussions, games, skits, and other fun activities.  We are looking for adults who love their faith and enjoy spending time with middle school aged students. Responsibilities include helping out with meetings, leading small group discussion, and getting to know the kids in our program.

Life Teen – High School
Our Life Teen program meets Sunday nights throughout the school year from 6:00-7:30 pm and is open to students in grades 9-12.  Meetings involve talks about our Catholic faith, small group discussions, games, skits, and other fun activities.  We are looking for adults who love their faith and enjoy spending time with high school aged students. Responsibilities include helping out with meetings, leading small group discussion, and getting to know the kids in our program.

Confirmation Program
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation happens during a student’s sophomore year in high school in the Diocese of Richmond.  As part of this program, we have four sessions throughout the school year that last three hours each.  These sessions aim to teach students about their Catholic faith and to prepare them to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation through talks, discussions, and other activities.  We are looking for adults who are interested in teaching the Catholic faith to high school students and walking with them on their spiritual journeys.

Ways for Youth to Serve

Liturgical Ministries
There are a variety of ways youth can serve during Mass on Sundays.  Grades 4 and up can serve as Bookbearers.  Grades 6 and up can serve as Crossbearers.  Grades 11 & 12 can serve as Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharistic and Proclaimers of the Word.  All ages are invited to serve as Greeters. These are all very important ministries, and we would like to have as many students involved as possible!

Youth Band
If you sing or play an instrument and are a middle school or high school student, we would love to have you join the Youth Band at the 4:30 pm Mass.  The band practices from 3:00-4:30pm every Sunday before Mass.

Antioch Team
Antioch is an annual retreat for high school students lead by 11th & 12th graders.  The retreat is very popular and involves a series of talks about our Catholic faith, games, music, and more.  If you are a junior or senior and would like to be a part of the Antioch Team, there is an application process that takes place in the fall/winter.  The Anticoh Team meets several times to prepare for the retreat, and it requires a lot of hard work.  If you would like more information, contact Patrick.
